A Brief Description of the Topic:

In the presentation InteractiveGIS, Inc. will demonstrate to the participants how affordable web-based information systems are available to both large and small water and sewer utility systems.  By combining open source web-based Geographic Information System (GIS) software with a utility company’s databases and maps, smaller water and sewer works, who could not afford expensive GIS software, can now employ those very same technologies that, until recently, were enjoyed by the larger waterworks.

During the presentation we will walk the participants through the process of developing, maintaining, and utilizing a web-based water management system.

At the end of the session, participants will be able to:

  1. To learn how to developing a step-by-step phased process for creating the necessary databases and electronic maps for your system.
  2. To learn how to prepare a Request for Proposal (RFP) that clearly identifies your unique needs that keep the responses well within your budget.
  3. To experience the benefits of a web-based, cost-effective, and need’s based utility information system.
